Laminate Flooring Selection

These days, laminate floors are very attractive, durable, and slip-resistant. They come in a wide range of styles. Laminate materials are available in various grades and different thicknesses ranging from 6 mm to 13 mm. What I would recommend if you decide to go with a laminate, is to get a quality laminate.

Why a Quality Laminate is a Great Choice for your Spring Hill Flooring

What a thicker, better quality laminate will get you is a more solid feel under your feet, with less give. It will also give you a more solid feel and a quieter walk.

You’ll want the additional thickness to eliminate the possible downsides of laminate. Laminate is not adhered to the substrate, so it tends to be a bit louder. The noise level depends also on the padding you choose, of course. There are different grades of padding that can also help soften it, cushioning the step and deadening the sound. It’s important to pick the grade of the cushion product carefully, based on what you are looking to do.

Laminate Flooring Aesthetic Considerations

I remember when my sister was thinking about replacing her high-quality laminate floors. They were a nice material, but they had unattractive red/orange undertones that clashed with the walls. But fortunately, once she painted the walls a cool color, it neutralized the floors. She ended up loving the laminate and keeping it. It made such a big difference. I would point this out, to illustrate the importance evaluating the samples together as a whole and also in the home, in the specific lighting and coloration of the room. That’s definitely important when choosing your products to ensure you are happy with the end result.

Apart from that, although it’s entirely a personal preference, typically I would recommend light floors for dark walls, unless you have very high ceilings and a lot of light. Dark floors would make it feel closed in. Also consider the color of countertops, furniture. But, personal preference again. Basically, what I say to the customers is, “You pick ‘em, I stick ‘em.” But in my opinion, a good quality laminate would definitely be the best way to go for most applications.
